Alice's art

Alice has a little art blog she keeps so I thought I'd share.

Music kinda day!

All sorts of music being played here today, it doesn't get any better than listening to your child create.

Then this is the face you get when it doesn't go to plan!

Friends are good!

We as a family have some hermit tendencies - there I've said it!

It's only when you go to things you realise that friends really are very important to you and that life would be less enjoyable without them.

We went to a children's party today and had a really fab time it was traditional and lovely and the grown ups had just as much fun as the kids.

Thanks to those involved you made my day!

Book recommendation

Alice has been reading these books and loves them! I have been so impressed, initially by the message within the books and secondly by how much they contain. There is the story (obviously) and then within each chapter there are hidden codes and an associated website to enter them in and then there are linked quizzes, crosswords and word-searches. The cover artwork is also very lovely.

Best Dinner

Well the eldest and the youngest members of our family are out for the night! The rest of us wondered what we could eat?? I thought, I know I'll knock up some onion bhajes and bulgar wheat. It was absolutely delicious! In the bulgar wheat were onions, peppers, spinach, grated carrot and pine nuts, sounds simply you may think but so lovely! I did consider taking a photo but I was starving and the thought of rummaging around for the camera didn't seem like a good one :o)

Royal Institution

We had a home ed visit to the Royal Institution recently and was so impressed. They have a new lab that is used for educational workshops. The girls really enjoyed it and looked like real scientists!!

Classroom - no thanks!

Why would you want to sit in a classroom when you can dig in the mud??

Back

So I survived my weekend away and actually really enjoyed it as I knew I would in the end. It pains me to say this but I really do need a break from being at home all the time, just once every 6 months is all it takes ;o)

We've all been feeling very lethargic this week and dare I say a little but grumpy. Paul is staring to put some feelers out about a new job but this has thrown up some big questions like, do we really want to be living this life?? A very vague plan is to earn as much as we can to enable us to do our house up and then sell it. From there who knows, maybe a little record shop by the sea (do they still exist?).

Just beacuse...

.. she's a gorgeous bear!

Away

So I'm going away for the weekend without my girls and it just feels wrong, wrong, wrong. I know people will say "you need a break" "you're with them all the time"........ The fact is that I really enjoy their company and even though they're no longer small children they still need me (I think!).

Am I silly to feel this way or is it normal? I know I will enjoy it when I get there and yes not having to run the girls around and walk the dog and cook the meals and tidy up and so on will be very relaxing. The fact still remains that our little family just doesn't work right apart! This is fueling a desire to really make changes in our life (more on that in the future). I want radical change but we all need to agree on that one.

Fingers crossed for no tears when I leave and see you the other side of the weekend. xx

Reading

Reading is important in this house. Above is our current reading list.
